A House Fit For A King, Buncrana

This 1¾ storey Irish contemporary dwelling was designed for the King family, who is also our architect, Breege Galbraith’s family home.

Breege loves traditional Irish architecture with a modern twist. Her bespoke design uses traditional Irish elements, such as wet dash render, flush natural slate roof with modern enhancements of zinc cladding, large triple glazed corner windows and a contemporary style chimney. The site location for this project was key. Looking over the spectacular scenic views of Lough Swilly, it was imperative that the main living spaces achieved the stunning views while also gaining as much solar gain as possible. While the site is quite long and narrow this came as a challenge to the design layout – but the results couldn’t be better!
Her house has also featured in two of Ireland’s leading interior magazines: ‘Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living’ and ‘House & Home’.
